BRISTOL/ SOUTHINGTON- Pink’s Hot Dogs, a fixture in Hollywood since 1939, has partnered with LakeCompounce and will open a restaurant in the park, across from the Carousel this May.
A press release from Compounce said Pink’s, a family owned business, was named by Fox News as number one in a list of Top Ten Hot Dog Stands in the U.S. It attracts celebrities including Jay Leno, Martha Stewart, and Food Network superstars Giada de Laurentiis and Guy Fieri just to name a few.
This will be the only Pink’s location on the East Coast, said the release.
According to Pink’s website, PinksHollywood.com, the closest location is CedarPointAmusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. Other locations are primarily in California, and two are in Las Vegas.
“Their long standing history, family oriented culture and guest service makes them a perfect fit for Lake Compounce”, said Lake Compounce General Manager Jerry Brick in a press release announcing the arrival of Pink’s. “The story of how they started is really neat, and now it’s probably one of the most famous hot dog stands in the country.”
Signature dogs on the menu will include the “Lord of the Rings,” the “Martha Stewart,” and the “Giada,” which is piled high with sautéed peppers, onions and mushrooms, chopped tomato and shredded mozzarella.
“Bringing Pink’s to Connecticut is like having a little bit of Hollywood on the East Coast” said family member and co-owner Richard Pink in the announcement from Compounce. “We love that our hot dogs have been made famous in TV and movies and are the favorites of countless movie stars who visit our Hollywood location, and we’re excited to bring that fun and delicious experience to LakeCompounce for their guests to enjoy.”
The grand opening of Pink’s will be Saturday, May 17 and will be celebrated with a Weiner Dog 100 featuring Dachshunds racing for the Fastest Hot Dog title. More details will be available soon. The park opens Saturday, May 10 for their 2014
