Southington receives road salt

Southington has received several tons of road salt and will be able to properly maintain the roads, Southington Town Manager Garry Brumback said Monday.
“We received two loads (approx. 18 tons each) from International through ConnDOT and two loads from Cargill through CRCOG,” Brumback said via email. “Our current balance on hand is 275 tons which will allow us to keep hills and mains open in the event of ice.”
Due to above average snowfall and 13 winter storms, Southington, like other municipalities in the state, had run low on road salt in previous weeks.
