Town prepares for another arctic cold snap

Southington is preparing for another bout of arctic air tonight through tomorrow that will potentially leave temperatures below zero.

Temperatures tomorrow are expected to range between zero and -15, factoring in wind chill. According to weather services, the region can expect wind gusts as high as 40 mph.

The forecast is expected to ease up a bit on Wednesday, with highs in the low 20s, with light winds.

In the meantime, the Southington Library is open as a warming station on Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Southington YMCA will also be available to residents that may lose power or hot water due to freezing pipes.
