Police investigating Wineland robbery

The Southington Police Department is investigating a robbery at Wineland Discount Liquors.

Police were called to Wineland, located at 1543 Meriden Waterbury Road, on Thursday, Dec. 12 and were told that a woman had robbed the store.

According to police,  a white female entered the store with a red and blue scarf covering her hands. The female had both hands in front of her body as if she was holding a gun and she demanded cash from the clerk.

The store clerk removed cash from the register and placed it on the counter. The female took the cash and left the store.

The suspect is described as a light skinned female approx. 35 – 40 yrs old, approx. 5’5” tall and weighing approx.140 lbs. She was wearing a red and blue scarf over her head which covered only her hair not her face.

Prior to the robbery the suspect approached the store on foot from an easterly direction and when she exited the store, she also headed in an easterly direction on Meriden Waterbury Rd.  A K-9 search of the area was unsuccessful.

Approximately $350 in cash was taken during the robbery.
