Queen Street will soon welcome Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, making the national franchise the last business to occupy the Shop Rite Plaza.
The new Jo-Anne store will serve as a one-stop creative destination for sewing and crafting lovers in the community, carrying a variety of crafting, floral and seasonal accessories. The store will also sell finished home-décor items as well as an assortment of fabrics for home decorating, apparel and crafting. Other store locations in Connecticut include Newington, Bristol, Hamden, and over several others.
“Whenever we open a new Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts store, the goal is always to provide our customer with the best possible merchandise offering inspiration and in-store experience,” said Jennifer Frantz, the manager of community marketing at Jo-Ann Fabrics.
Lou Perillo, the Southington economic development coordinator, said the establishment of Jo-Ann Fabrics in town shows not only the growth of the Shop Rite plaza, but also the growth of Queen Street itself. He said Queen Street now has limited vacancy, with a variety of site selectors keeping an eye on the few spaces that remain unoccupied.
“The plaza has one wonders,” Perillo said, adding that Jo-Ann Fabrics will help bring a demographic mix of clients and customers. “It really helps showing the power of Queen Street.”
Jo-Ann Fabrics plans to open on February 2, 2014, with grand opening celebrations scheduled to take place February 13 through 15. The new store will hire between 25 and 30 part-time team employees and five employees on the management team. Joann3
