After three weeks, a pair of one-possession losses in week two remain the only blemishes on Lincoln College’s schedule. The Wildcats are making some noise in 2013.
With victories over three conference opponents last week, the Lincoln College men’s basketball team has improved to 7-2 overall. The Wildcats are riding a five-game winnings streak and are already making a case for the postseason.
Gateway tumbles
Kyre Jackson owned the paint with 22 points 13 rebounds, and four steals, and five Wildcat shooters peppered long range jumpers. On Monday, Nov. 18, Lincoln College rallied to an eight-point lead at the break and held on for a 76-73 win over crossstate rival Gateway CC (2-2).
Carmine Santorelli (20 points, 6 assists) rallied for five three pointers, and Andre Wright converted four shots beyond the arc to lead Gateway, but the Lions  couldn’t rise above early shooting problems.
Chris Austin scored 15 points and six assists for Lincoln. Jalen David added 10 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Taylor (8 rebounds), Kojo Lockhart, and Dairyon Davis scored seven points apiece in the road win.

Holyoke falls fast
On Thursday, the Wildcats rallied for 51.4 percent shooting as they broke open a two point halftime lead with a 54-point surge after the break.
Lockhart paced the attack with 21 points and five assists. Jalen David scored 19 points and collected three of the Wildcats’ 11 steals.
Taylor scored a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Dominic Johnson added 10 points off the bench, and Michael Campbell contributed eight points and eight rebounds.
Cornelius Tyson led the Cougars with 24 points, including 16 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as Holyoke fell to 0-5. Abdul Halim King scored 17 points. Xavier Cruz added 15, and Jovan Jackson scored 13 points, but the Wildcats held the Holyoke bench to just five baskets in the game.

Northern Essex win
On Saturday, the Wildcats improved to 2-0 at Bristol Eastern with a 78-72 win over Northern Essex. The victory marked the first three-win week of the season despite a 1-for-7 effort from three point range.
Chris Brown scored a team-high 17 points off the bench and went 8-for-10 from the free throw line as the Wildcats battled back from a 41-35 deficit at the break.
Lockhart scored 15 points with 12 rebounds. David scored 11 points with seven boards and four steals. Taylor (10 rebounds) and Austin added 10 points apiece, and Jackson chipped in eight points with 12 rebounds.
With the victory, the Wildcats improved to 7-2 (6-2 in the conference). The Northern Essex Knights fell to 4-5 (2-3 in the conference).
Lincoln will look to continue their streak into the holiday week with a home game against UConn-Avery Point on Tuesday in Harwinton and two games this weekend at the Westchester Community College Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Wildcats have just five games remainings until the semester break.
