Watertown Man Faces Six Charges; Found Hiding in Southington

A Watertown man faces six charges after police found him hiding in an apartment on West Main Street in Southington, according to a police report.

Southington police said in the report that Alan Gamache of 147 Greenwood Street, Watertown, had an active arrest warrant stemming from a domestic dispute on Monday, and hid inside the apartment to avoid capture. The dispute took place at that same location.

According to police report, Gamache has a history of violence, and he threatened to attack officers if they approached him. As a precaution, PlantsvilleElementary School and PlantsvilleNursery School were in lockdown for ten minutes. Once officers took Gamache into custody on the scene, school officials lifted the lockdown.

Gamache was charged with second degree assault, second degree strangulation, and first degree unlawful restraint. He also faces charges of first degree threatening, interference with emergency calls and second degree breach of peace.
