The Face of Connecticut Steering Committee has appointed a new member familiar to Southington: Town Councilor Dawn Miceli.
The Face of Connecticut Steering Committee has 12 members statewide who review and allocate funds to preserve farmland, historic preservation, open space and affordable housing.
House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz, who represents Berlin and Southington in the Connecticut General Assembly, said he cannot imagine a better person to work on the committee.
“I’m confident that the passion, commitment and leadership she has repeatedly demonstrated in Southington will now be put to good use for our whole state, Rep. Aresimowicz said in a press release.
Miceli said she looks forward to serving on the committee, and pursuing one of her passions she discovered when she was a journalist.
“I feel very blessed to be appointed,” Miceli said. “When I started studying open space and how it impacts the community, I felt intrigued by it.”
Mecili serves as the Communications Director at Hamden Hall Country Day School when not serving on the Town Council.
She was also an adjunct professor of the Quinnipiac University School of Communications for more than a decade.
Miceli lives in Southington with her husband Joe Miceli, a high school mathematics teacher and coach, along with their son, Jake, a seventh-grader at DePaolo Middle School.
