*Update Harold Smith found in Cheshire


Harold Smith has been located in neighboring Cheshire, according to a Southington Police Department news release.

Smith approached a farm worker who was working on the Sunny Acres Farm in Cheshire.  He advised the farm worker that he had run away from home.  The Cheshire Police Department was subsequently contacted and confirmed Smith’s identity.  Though appeared to be in good health, he was transported to The Hospital of Central Connecticut Bradley Memorial Campus as a precautionary measure.

Smith advised officers that he left home and walked down the linear trail into Cheshire. He left the trail and walked down Route 10 until he reached Blacks Road.  He walked approximately one half of a mile on Blacks Road and entered a field on the Sunny Acre Farm.  He found an unsecured and abandoned vehicle and sought shelter inside for the past three days. He approached the farm worker after seeing him working in the field.

The Southington Police Department is looking for the public’s help in locating Harold Smith.  Smith, who is mentally challenged, walked away from his home on the northwest side of Southington yesterday morning.   Smith is very social and is known to frequent the businesses in both downtown Southington and Plantsville.  He also spends a great deal of time walking the linear trail in Southington.

Smith, 67, is described as being 5’8” and weighing 210 pounds. He has gray hair with hazel eyes.
