Music on the Green to return for another year

By Ed Harris

The “Music on the Green” Concert Series returns for its twentieth year later this month.
The series, sponsored by the Southington Parks and Recreation Department, will take place on Wednesday evenings, from May 29 – August 28 at the Southington Town Green. Any rain dates are the following Thursdays.
“I’m sure the choices made this year are choices people will like,” said Concert Coordinator Jerry Limmer.
Limmer said that eight of the 14 bands are new, with six returning favorites. The bands represent a variety of styles, including rock, polka, big band, jazz, country and covers.
Now going into its twentieth year, Limmer said the concert series still attracts a crowd.
“There’s still a lot of interest,” Limmer said. “It seems to be growing.”
The free music shows will also include weekly car shows. The August 7 car show will also include show bikes.
