Police seek public’s help with reported sexual assault

The Southington Police Department is looking for the public’s help to track down a man that reportedly sexually assaulted a woman.

On April 19, an adult female came to the Southington Police Department to report being sexually assaulted.

The woman, who was not identified, stated that on April 18, at approximately 10 p.m., she was driving on what she described as North Shuttle Street approaching Long Bottom Road.  The victim reported stopping at the intersection and proceeding onto Long Bottom Road. Just prior to turning onto Long Bottom Road, the victim saw headlights approaching from behind her right after clearing the intersection.

The victim said she felt her car get tapped from behind. She pulled her vehicle over and encountered a male driving a car.  The victim checked for damage to her vehicle and none was observed.

The male then sexually assaulted the victim. The male then left the scene.

The suspect was described as being younger looking 24-30 years old, possibly an African American or Hispanic, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, with a slender build, short hair, darker skinned, wearing a black hoodie, with darker baggy jeans.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2003-2006 Nissan Altima, color black, stock rims, a silver Nissan symbol on the front, and a front license plate bracket without a registration plate. The victim said the car was running with loud music coming from it.

The Southington Police Department is asking members of the public who were in the area of Long Bottom Road and North Shuttle Street 9-11 p.m. or having information related to this incident to contact 860-378-1644 or 860-621-0101.
