U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) issued the following press release.
WATERBURY—On Monday, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will hold a roundtable discussion at Post University with student veterans, active duty soldiers, Army National Guard recruiters and university administrators to discuss issues faced by Connecticut veterans, and the recently restored military tuition assistance benefits that had been cut by budget sequestration. The discussion will provide Murphy with an opportunity to hear how he can better serve Connecticut’s veterans in Washington.
Murphy recently joined bipartisan legislation to restore tuition assistance benefits for active duty service members after hearing from students and faculty at Post University in Waterbury. This legislation was passed by the House and the Senate, and was signed into law on March 26th. Many of the participants in Monday’s roundtable discussion currently benefit from military tuition assistance, and will speak about the importance of this program to their career.
