Youth leads way for prom fashion show fund raiser

Just in time for prom season, 16-year-old Alyscia Talbot of Bristol, the Junior Grange of Wolcott chairperson and the Wolcott Grange are teaming up with Kristen’s Kloset of Southington to help spread the word and get affordable prom dresses to girls in the area who otherwise might not be able to afford a gorgeous gown.
On March 30, the Wolcott Grange will be converted into a Prom Extravaganza with a prom fashion show and just about everything else needed to make prom a special night. Vendors will be on-site to discuss hair, makeup, and transportation options, as well as how to pick the perfect flower for your date. There is still space available for a few more vendors and girls interested in volunteering to model the gowns.
Interested persons can contact Alyscia via e-mail at
The event will run from 6 until 8:30 p.m. with ample time to try on gowns available.
“I think it’s important for everyone to feel special on prom night and having an affordable but beautiful gown can make that happen” said Alyscia in a press release. “Kristen’s Kloset is a great program where young women can get that perfect gown for as little as $25, so when I thought about the event it only made sense to work together.”
Entry costs just $10 with a portion of the proceeds going back to Southington Youth Services to help continue the gown program.
