The Southington Police Department is still awaiting the cause of death of William Gillan, whose body was found alongside that of his mother Mildred Gillan at their Cedar Lane residence late last month.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that 86-year-old Mildred’s death was due to natural causes. Police are still awaiting word from the medical examiner on the cause of 60-year-old William’s death.
Police discovered the bodies after performing a welfare check at 27 Cedar Lane on Wednesday, Jan. 23. A mail carrier had noticed newspapers piling up outside the homes and alerted police.
The Southington Fire Department, which assisted the police department in entering the house, tested the home for carbon monoxide and other hazardous gases before entering. No elevated levels were found.
